MSMEs in dire need of finance to prosper, said Krupal Tumane, MP (Ramtek) while inaugurating the two-day conference ‘SMEs: Opportunities & Possibilities – The Way Forward’ commenced on Friday. The conference is hosted by Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VED).

Tumane continued that VED, MOIL, Mahindra and Mahindra and other big companies in the region should form a committee which will assist the MSMEs in bidding process, finance and other things. He said, it is importance for any MSME to face difficulty, because difficulty helps to grow. “Until and unless, you face difficulty, you cannot go ahead,” he noted.
He said, there is wide scope in the agriculture business. He gave example of companies operating in Durgapur. Tumane said, the companies are providing all facilities right from giving seed to marketing to people where mushroom can grow on an area of 10 feet x 10 feet with the help of paddy. On such an area, one can get a hefty income of Rs 40,000. “We want that experiment should be done in our region so that people can get employment,” he said.
He called upon the members of the VED to organise a conference of banks with the help of SIDBI. “This will help in fulfilling the needs of the SIDBI,” he said.
“We have powerful Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari who is very helpful to everybody. It will definitely help the MSME sector in the region to march ahead,” he said.
Shivkumar Rao, President of VED said, in the Economic Survey 2018-19 rolled out in July, it was said that of the total MSMEs in the country, 50 per cent falls into the category of dwarf. These dwarfs have poor productivity and poor employment. Central Government has launched the campaign --Nourishing dwarfs into giants--. “VED has taken this very seriously and we want to support Government in achieving the desired result,” he said.
VED through this programme is providing platform for buyers and sellers so that they could interact with one another. “Their talk should be transformed into action. For this we have arranged a platform of exhibition,” he added.
Atul Tajpuriya, Joint Secretary of VED and Project Director said, “MSMEs are backbone of the country. SME sector contributes 35 per cent to GDP. It is the vision of Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari to take this 35 per cent to 50 per cent.”
There are lot of challenges before MSME sector. Government is leaving no stone unturned to take care of this sector. VED wants that these challenges should be converted into opportunities. There are 500 components which MSMEs can made and supply it to respective PSUs and corporates, he said.
Experts from various sectors like defence, aerospace, mineral etc., have been invited for this conference, he added.
Hassan Shaiq, Founder BY Agro, Samit Singhal, Founder Durafloor Concrete Solutions LLP, Kirit Joshi, Co-Founder of Spacewood enthralled the gathering with their success stories. Joshi said, “Not integrity, sincerity matters.”

Union Minister for MSME, Roads, Highways, Transport, will be the chief guest of the inaugural session on November 16 at Banyan Hall, Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, Nagpur. It will sharply commence at 10 am.
