Ashok Patel Police Stadium to regain lost glory

Historic Ashok Patel Police Stadium is being renovated for convenience of players of hockey, football, volleyball and basketball events
 
Jabalpur police are now gear-up to ensure its contribution in providing better training facilities to players and improving the standard of sports in the district. Police will motivate youngsters for participation in sports to curb addiction, estranging them from criminal mindset and strengthening communal harmony amongst residents. Historic Ashok Patel Police Stadium is being renovated for convenience of players of hockey, football, volleyball and basketball events.
 
Superintendent of Police Amit Singh (IPS), while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that participation of youngsters in sports activities is essential for their overall personality development but it also estranged them from addiction and crime practices. Similarly, participation in sports is the best way to develop communal harmony amongst residents. In order to ensure contribution of police for motivation of youngsters towards sports activities, Ashok Patel Police Stadium is being renovated for developing a healthy sporting environment.
 
Along with repairing of players stand, pavilion and levelling of ground, facilities for organising hockey, football, volleyball and basketball events are being developed at Police Stadium. Besides this, separate toilets and changing room will also be constructed to facilitate players. Superintendent of Police Amit Singh informed that the district and state have recently lost a national Hockey player Ashish Lal and he has decided to organise a national hockey tournament in his memory for providing platform to upcoming players.
 
Besides this, police would start A N Singh Memorial Inter District Volleyball Tournament and also organise inter-mohalla sports competitions to encourage youngsters towards sports. SP Amit Singh added that reviewing the history of sports in Jabalpur, he learnt that the Ashok Patel Police Stadium hosted several national competitions and participation of international players like Hockey legend, Major Dhyanchand Singh and Arjun Award recipient, Madhu Yadav and others. He said for reinstating the lost glory of Ashok Patel Police Stadium and providing better sports facilities to upcoming players.
