About Project
The project is first of its kind in Jabalpur to check carbon secretion and promotion of green energy generation. On an average, 18 million units to be generated by the plant will create huge saving of electricity bill amounting upto Rs 7 crore per year
Fulfilling the defence weaponry requirements of armed forces, Gun Carriage Factory (GCF) is also shouldering the responsibility of environment conservation. Its 10-MWs captive solar power project was successfully commissioned on full load and recently synchronised with the power grid. Power to be generated from the project will not only fulfil electricity requirement of GCF but it will also supply electricity to Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK).
The project is first of its kind in Jabalpur to check carbon secretion and promotion of green energy generation. On an average, 18 million units to be generated by the plant will create huge saving of electricity bill amounting upto Rs 7 crores per year. Gun Carriage Factory, Senior General Manager, Rajnish Jauhari expressed great happiness and consider this a big step towards green and clean energy. The 10-MWs solar power project has been established in association with Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangaluru (BEL) with an expenditure of Rs 60 crores at 55-acres barren land at Sri Pat Baba Hill.
The project will curtail price of electricity from Rs 7 – 8 per unit to Rs 4.70 per unit and will save electricity bills amounting to Rs 50 lakhs per month for GCF and OFK. Along with curtailing electricity expenditure, the project will check 19,813 tons of carbon emission in comparison to thermal power generation which is equivalent to the rate of carbon secretion by more than 2.27 lakh trees of 30-years of age.
