Platform number one to remain closed for washing apron work

Platform number 1, the main platform of Jabalpur Railway station, wore a deserted look on Friday noon after the work for much-needed washable apron reconstruction got started. Train services in UP direction from platform number 1 were completely stopped after 10 am after which the work started. Consequently operation of UP direction trains to Itarsi end were operated from platform number 2 and 3. Apparently it would take around 45 days to complete the washable apron work at platform number 1 and four trains that were operated from Jabalpur are now being operated from Madan Mahal and one from Adhartal.
 
According to information, operations of UP trains from platform number 1 of Jabalpur station come to a standstill from November 22 as per schedule fixed by the railway administration. The previous washable apron suffered damage and consequently operations of trains from platform number 1 proved troublesome for railway administration. The mandatory reconstruction work forced the administration to initiate work to refurbish the pervious washable apron.With stoppage of of UP trains from platform number 1 caused large rush on platform number 2 and 3. Operation of four trains from Madan Mahal and one from Adhartal in view of rush at Jabalpur yard made many passengers resentful as they were forced to reach Madan Mahal and Adhartal stations to board their train to start their journey. The operation of trains from Madan Mahal and Adhartal is being made on experimental basis depending upon the success. The railway administration may take decision to operate trains from two others stations of Jabalpur on regular basis.
 
However at present, the operation of trains from Madan Mahal and Adhartal would give some relief to Railways for construction task of washable apron at platform number 1.It is informed that on the first day of work, overhead traction is being removed by TRD Department. Divisional Engineer Abhishek Mishra informed that insulation work of removed traction has also been started.Deployment of JCB to remove existing track from platform would be started from Saturday, followed by lying of sleeper on the base of track and this will be followed by lying of rail in course of 45 days’ schedule work.Divisional Operating Manager, Rohit Malviya informed that with the start of work at platform number 1, trains going to Itarsi end were operated from platform 2 and 3. Divisional Commercial Manager Devesh Soni informed that in view of the fact that platform number 1 was non-operational has caused rush of passengers on platform number 2 and 3. Consequently passenger amenities are being enhanced on five other platforms serving for platform number 1.
