UNLEASHING a reign of terror, Naxals set afire nine vehicles in upcoming SP-03 screening plant of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) under Kirandul police station limits. As per information, NMDC is working for new project of SP-03 plant and a Hyderabad company has been given the contract. Tipper, dozers and JCB had been engaged for this new plant. It is reported that nearly 25 to 30 Naxals in civil dress stormed the site around 12:45 pm.

They asked labourers to leave spot. After labourers left, Naxals broke diesel tankers of vehicles with axe and used the same diesel to burn vehicles. Total six Tippers, two dozers and one poclaine were torched, creating terror among labourers. It is also reported that Naxals damaged four Tippers and tried to burn them as well. However, acting swiftly, tipper drivers escaped with vehicles. Naxals allegedly assaulted a driver before leaving the spot. The driver fled the scene.

Meanwhile, on contacting, Kirandul SHO B P Joshi confirmed the incident. Search operations have been launched to nab the Naxals. Asked which Naxal organization was involved in the incident, Joshi said it is hard to comment as investigation is on. If police sources are to be believed, it is cowardice act of Naxals to spread terror when they are losing base after continuous surrenders and arrests.
