Prima-facie investigation reveals, the girls were thrashed to death with a frying pan 
 
Sensation gripped the State capital after two girls were brutally murdered inside their house at Godawari Nagar locality under Tikrapara police station on Tuesday. Two girls, including a 20-year-old nursing student, were murdered in Godawari Nagar locality, said Purani Basti City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Krishna Kumar Patel. The CSP further informed that the deceased were siblings and identified as Manju Sidar (22) and Manisha Sidar (20), both hailing from Raigarh district. Manisha was studying here in a private nursing college and residing at a rented house.
 
After being informed about the crime, police rushed to the spot and found the girls critically injured. The girls were rushed to Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital where they were declared brought dead. “CCTV cameras installed in the locality has captured two youths, probably indulged in the crime. Prima-facie investigation revealed that the girls were thrashed to death with a frying pan,” said CSP Patel. Meanwhile, police sources averred that a suspect has been detained in connection with the murders. In wake of the crime, a police team accompanied by senior police personnel including Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Prafull Kumar Thakur, Kotwali City Superintendent of Police (CSP) D C Patel and others, accompanied by experts from Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) rushed to the spot for undertaking Crime Scene Investigation (CSI). Tikrapara Police have registered an offence in this connection under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), which amounts to the charge of punishment for murder, said CSP Patel, adding that further probe in the case is underway.
 
Habitual offender stabbed to death

State capital Raipur was rocked by third murder within 24 hours, when a habitual offender knifed to death by unknown assailants, thereby bringing the entire policing system to the docks and giving another sleepless night to the top brasses. The timing murder is seen very crucial, as it happened barely few hours after the former BJP Minister and Raipur MLA on Monday evening termed the ‘Chhattisgarh as hub of crimes’ under the Congress regime, with specific elaboration of statistics pertaining with spike of heinous offences like murder and crime against women. A habitual offence identified as Rupendra Dewangan (24) was stabbed to death near Bada Talab at Birgaon locality under Urla police station late on Tuesday evening, said police sources. “Rupendra has suffered multiple stab injuries close to face and neck. Police have recovered a motorcycle and a mobile handset from the crime scene,” averred police sources. Police sources further informed that after being informed about the murder, police rushed to the spot and identified the deceased as Rupendra, who is habitual offender of the area. A police team led by senior officials and experts from Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) rushed to the spot for carrying out Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) and collect possible evidences from the scene. An offence in this connection was registered with Urla police station under Section 302 of IPC, which amounts to the charge of punishment for murder, and under relevant Section of Arms Act.
