The charred body was found inside an abandoned room in the premises of Government school in Panchsheel Nagar locality of TT Nagar area on Tuesday morning. The body has been burnt beyond recognition and a chain was found entangled around the victim’s neck from the window railing, police said. Acting on information, TT Nagar police reached the spot and investigated the crime scene with FSL team. Police suspect that unidentified persons may have killed the victim and disposed his body by burning it after pouring petrol.
 
A semi-burnt wooden log was also recovered by the police from the spot. Abhishek Singh Bains, Principal of Government Sardar Patel Naveen High School, Panchsheel Nagar, informed police around 8.30 am that a charred body in his mid-20s was lying in a room of Panchsheel Primary School located in the back side of the premises of his school”, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Irshad Wali told reporters. Nothing which could help in establishing the identity of deceased was found from the spot. The primary school building has been abandoned and no classes are conducted there, he added.
 
City Superintendent of Police (TT Nagar) Umesh Tiwari said that the body seems to be of a man and is one or two days old. A 25-year-old man named Anil Thakre has been reported missing from his home in Panchsheel Nagar area since last four to five days. Kin of missing person Anil visited the spot and suspected that the charred body was that of Thakre. However, the senior officer added that the link to the missing person cannot be established as the body is burnt beyond recognition. A DNA test would be conducted and the samples would be matched with Anil’s mother to ascertain the victim’s identity. A case has been registered against unidentified persons and further probe is on in the matter, he added. Notably, senior political leaders from Congress including Minister P C Sharma and from BJP as well visited the crime scene after getting information about the recovery of body from the school.
