Consul General of USA David J Ranz pays courtesy call on Governor Anusuiya Uikey and both held discussion over issues like education, environment and Naxal 
 
emphasising on the need for exchange programme between the universities of State and USA, Governor Anusuiya Uikey, during her meeting with Consul General of USA David J Ranz, said that Chhattisgarh has ample potential in various sectors which are yet to be tapped. The Consul General paid a courtesy call on the Governor at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday and both had a widespread discussion over issues like education, environment and Naxal. During the meet, the Governor mentioned the unfortunate deaths in Supebeda village of Gariaband district due to kidney related diseases and urged the Consul General for sending experts for examination.
 
Taliking about education, shesaid that the exchange programme between the universities of Chhattisgarh and USA would help students of both countries to know each other’s culture. The tribal students of Chhattisgarh will be benefitted from it, said the Governor on the occasion. The Governor also stressed on the need for sending full bright scholars of Chhattisgarh to USA, sending tribal students to USA under fellowship programme for research in higher education. Further, the Governor also laid emphasis on cooperation between the two nations on malnutrition and climate change issues.
 
The Governor also said that Chhattisgarh need to do a lot of work on environment and improving air quality and experts of USA can help in this direction. The Governor termed the naxal problem as an inter-state issue which can be solved with coordinated efforts from the state and the centre. She said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has prepared an action plan to get rid of Naxal problem. The Governor also emphasized that the tribal youths should be provided with employment, so that they join the mainstream of the society. The Consul General said that Chhattisgarh is rich in natural resources.
 
He also said that there is a lot of scope in the field higher education. Secretary to the Governor Sonmoni Borah and Consul General David J Ranz had also a meeting on the occasion. Borah told Ranz that he was on a study tour for one year. He did his one year course on Public Policy and Public Administration from Maxwell School of New York. Ranz said that it’s a coincident that his daughter is studying in the same school. Also present on the occasion Consul on Economics and Political Affairs Christopher Grasmen, Ayesha Khan and Kashyap Pandya.
