Durg, After the tops cops of the Durg Police Range as well as the Director General of Police (DGP) failed in getting executed an arrest warrant issued against a doctor for not providing evidence in a murder case pending since 2017, a Special Court in Durg has asked the Under Secretary of the Chhattisgarh’s Home Department to ensure presence of the doctor in the court.
 
According to information, the regular absence of the doctor caused unwarranted delay in the trial and after the arrest warrants against the doctor posted in a Government hospital at Raipur were not executed by the police officers, the court had to approach the Home Department’s Under Secretary. It is reliably learnt that suspended railway employee Ram Kumar Tirkey was allegedly murdered and set ablaze by his brother-in-law Ghanshyam Sahu in Charoda on June 8, 2017.
 
The murder was an outcome of monetary dispute involving Rs 2.50 lakh, After five days, and police arrested the accused. The trial commenced after the charges were framed and Dr O P Tandon, who had conducted post-mortem, had to record his statements as a prosecution witness in the case. Although the trial court previously issued warrants against the doctor for not providing evidence and getting them executed through the Durg SP, Durg Range IG and even the DGP twice but yet the warrant was not executed. Meanwhile the Special Judge (SC ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Harish Kumar Awasthi has asked the Under Secretary of the State’s Home Department for execution of the arrest warrant to ensure the doctor remains present in the subsequent hearing.
