A 26-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times by an armed assailant with a sharp-edged weapon near a school in Harshwardhan Nagar locality of TT Nagar on Tuesday. According to investigation officer Satendra Singh Parmar, the victim identified as Aneeta Malviya was rushed to a nearby private hospital after she was severally injured in the attack. The victim was attacked in her neck, face and hands.

Aneeta, a resident of Rahul Nagar in Kamla Nagar area, used to work as domestic help in Harshwardhan Nagar and was on her way home after work along with her aunt when the accused named Dinesh Mehra waylaid her and stabbed almost half-a-dozen times with a knife he was carrying.

The victim in her statement given to the police said that she got married with Kamal Razak in Nazeerabad area but as their relationship turned sour, she left her husband and their case of separation is under trial in Family Court. The accused Dinesh also lives in Nazeerabad and on Tuesday afternoon, he stabbed her as she refused to accept his proposal to return and start living with her husband.

The locals have spotted the miscreant escaping the spot but failed to find when the accused had attacked the victim. However, mother of injured woman alleged that her daughter was attacked by Dinesh on instructions of Aneeta’s sister-in-law Siya. After the preliminary investigation, the police have registered a case under sections 294, 323 and 506 of the IPC and have started further investigation. Charges of attempt to murder could be added after receiving PMLC report of doctors, added investigation officer Parmar.
