The Second Day of ‘Baldarbar’ - a 5-day mega Children’s Drama Festival and Drama Competition exhibited brilliant performances by the students of various schools. It was a feast for the audience as they witnessed a number of remarkable performances. The first school which occupied the stage was The Swaminarayan School, Wardhaman Nagar, Nagpur with their enthralling presentation in Hindi titled ‘Samanvaya’. The theme of the play effectively emphasised on the topic of family. It’s the family which acts as the root and the members are its branches. The roots are responsible to keep the tree intact and bind it together.

The second play staged was ‘Sanyukt Tatha Ekal Pariwar’ in Hindi by Gaikwad Patil International School, Wardha Road. The story of the play twirled around the concept of Joint Family and Nuclear family. It depicted how a joint family stands as a support system for each other at times of adversity; where as in a nuclear family one is left alone. The third play of the day ‘Dandelion Hopes’ in English was staged by Bhavan’s B P Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines. The story successfully showcased how ‘Brain Drain’ is affecting the thought process of the youth. They are in a dilemma whether to leave the motherland and settle abroad for their personal growth or to stay back home and work for its development.

A very strong message was depicted that –All talent is valuable. ‘Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye’, a well presented Marathi play by Sandipani School, Hazari Pahad, showcased the importance of education. It effectively depicted that the work of education is not only to educate but to empower with values. Its good for people to be highly educated, but it should also be adorned with love, values, feelings, compassion, sacrifice, dedication and empathy. The next play ‘Amuk Pukar’ by Bhavan’s NTPC Vidya Mandir, Mouda, beautifully portrayed the plight of wild animals. The theme revolved around the idea that everything in nature be it land, air and water, belongs to both humans and wild animals equally. We have no right to encroach on wild animal’s habitat. Saving jungles and wild animals should be the priority of humans.

‘Antarmukh: Shodh Swatacha’, a play in Marathi was presented by School of Scholars, Hudkeshwar explicated on how children are exposed to the world of Social Media. The parents are busy with their own work and have no time to spend with their children. Hence the children create their own virtual world and think that they have the supreme power to control everything in their life. The I, Me, Myself syndrome ruins their relationship with others. Delhi Public School, Khairi, Kamptee Road, Nagpur staged a Hindi play ‘Astitva’. The play highlighted on the difference in opinion and generation gap between youth and their parents. The children sway in between to work for their aspirations or fulfill parent dreams. Sometimes parents force upon their dreams on their wards without considering their inclination.

Last but not the least was a humorous play on ‘Lalchi Dulha’ by J N Tata Parsi Girls High School. On a lighter note, the act was an eye opener for eradication of the evil practice of dowry.
