On Thursday, spot fine drive was organised at zone number 2 against violators for throwing C and D (Construction and Demolition) waste lying on roadside. Inspection was also carried out at Ward number 10 and directions were also given to beautify Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, Wall Painting at Ahmedabad Palace etc. Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) anti-encroachment drive continued in many areas in the city. Special focus is given on temporary sheds, constructions blocking sewage and small tin shed shops near transformers, electric poles are removed by anti-encroachment squad. The drive removed roadside food stalls and handcart at MP Nagar zone 1.
 
Anti-encroachment squad is taking action against illegally erected mobile towers, Sanchi parlours etc. Efforts are also being made to remove political, social and religious encroachments with consent and support. The issue of anti-encroachment is an effort of make the city encroachment free and clean and beautiful and for that Bhopal Municipal Corporation is also raising awareness in city places from time to time especially to shop vendors. Regions which are most affected are footpaths, nullah and canals in MP Nagar, Raisen road, Peergate, TT Nagar, Hamidia road, Berasia road, Karond Square, Gulmohar, Shahpura C Sector, Ishwar Nagar, Kolar and Subash Nagar Railway Crossing etc.
 
Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vijay Datta directed officials to monitor real-time movement of garbage vehicles. BMC officials also inspected sanitation and garbage collection process at Avadhpuri, Purnashila, Azad Nagar, Panikshi Vihar and Vishwakarma Nagar colonies. Directions were also given to zonal and ward officials to utilise GPS-based-vehicle-tracking and monitoring system (VTMS) and ensure its effective use.
 
BMC team also surveyed drains in the area which in the past have led to waterlogging. Apart from the fact that the new system was introduced so as to help Bhopal Municipal Corporation financially by reducing running cost, fuel costs and maintenance cost and also in checking unauthorised use of municipal vehicles. VTMS has been installed in almost all civic body garbage picking vehicles. BMC officials also undertook a surprise inspection of various areas of the State capital and went around various residential colonies and got a first hand information about various issues confronting residents with regards to cleanliness.
