Panchayat Minister Kamleshwar Patel has defended Government over the resignation issue of IAS officer Gauri Singh by asserting that the State Government has every right to transfer the officer. He claimed that Gauri Singh without his consent went for reservation process in panchayats and this was in violation of set norm.

Kamleshwar Patel was addressing the press conference to inform media about the major achievements of his department in last one year. He also said that as Panchayat Department was also involved in plantation drive carried out on banks of Narmada river by previous Government, hence, he has ordered probe into the matter.
Moreover, he told that Central Government is holding the funds of Panchayat Department under various heads and this is affecting the functioning of the department. “Around Rs 200 crore are pending under labour payment head,” he told. While rolling out the achievements of his
department, he stated that stray cattle issue is a major problem and state government has decided to solve it by constructing gaushala. “By February, around 1,000 gaushala will be constructed in State and this will end the stray cattle menace and will give relief to farmers as stray cattle used to damage their crops,” he told. Shedding light on different programmes of his department, he told that Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) has been prepared for development schemes of panchayats. Yuva Gram Shakti Samiti is going to be constituted in every village panchayat level for overall development of village.
Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj avam Vikas Yojana has been started to push up development works of panchayats. Under livelihood mission, State Start Up Village Entrepreneurship programme has been started at pilot level. Under MNREGA, river rejuvenation plan has been made. The plans have been also made for better roads of panchayats. Gas connections has been provided to 66,492 schools under mid day meal scheme.
