Artists from Belarus, Uganda, Maldives, Sri Lanka to perform in C’garh for the first time

Artists from Belarus, Uganda, Maldives and Sri Lanka have arrived at Raipur city to participate in the National Tribal Dance Festival, beginning at Science College Ground on Friday. A 40-member troupe of artists from Belarus led by group leader Mr Galeb has reached Raipur to participate in the mega festival. Speaking to ‘The Hitavada,’ Personal Assistant of Belarus team Aliasa said that the 40-member troupe including musicians, dancers and singers will perform national “Belarusian” folk dance in the National Dance Festival.
 
The artists wearing traditional costumes of Belarus will perform the folk dance of Belarus on all three days in the festival. Belarusian dance is performed on the occasions of birthday, wedding ceremony and harvesting of crops. “We have reached today by travelling around 7,000 kilometres distance so we feel tired. We have enjoyed hospitality in Raipur and we are enjoying Chhattisgarhi dishes,” said delighted Aliasa. A six-member team of artists from Mizizi Ensemble Uganda led by team leader Sam Okello Kelo too have reached Raipur to perform in the National Tribal Dance Festival. Talking to ‘The Hitavada,’ Sam Okello Kelo said that Amagunju, Adungu, Orunyege, Bakasimba, Larakarakadan and Amaraba traditional folk dances would be performed by the artists in the festival. Sam Okello Kelo said, “We have come for the first time in India to perform. We are delighted to come to Chhattisgarh.”
 
A 27-member dance group from Maldives led by team leader Mohammad Asim has reached Raipur to perform in the festival. Mohammad Asim said that the artists would perform traditional folk dance “Boduberu” in the festival. Different types of beat will be performed by the artists. “Earlier, we performed in India twice. This is for the first time that we will perform in Chhattisgarh,” said Asim. A 12-member group of artists from Sri Lanka have also arrived. Team leader Uma Sritharan said that artists from Sathya Sai Kalalayam Candy would perform pot, harvesting, sward, raban, peacock and shawl folk dances in the festival.
 
The artists from Sri Lanka will perform all three days in the festival. Uma Sritharan said, “It’s a unique programme. We thanked Indian government to provide a platform to participate in the festival. We have performed several times in South India. First time, we will perform in Chhattisgarh.” The artists from these four countries are delighted to perform in Chhattisgarh. Talking to ‘The Hitavada,’ the artists from Belarus, Uganda, Maldives and Sri Lanka have expressed gratitude towards Indian government and Chhattisgarh government to provide an opportunity to participate in the National Tribal Dance Festival.
