Ahead of winter session of State Legislature, machinery of civic body is in no mood to tolerate illegalities and started with removing unauthorised banners in city. In fact, a banner hailing appointment of Sandip Joshi as Mayor was pulled down by officials of Nehru Nagar Zone. In fact, High Court has already issued directions to civic bodies not to show any leniency for illegal hoardings, banners put up by either political activists of or commercial agencies. With winter session slated in third week of December, preparations are on to spruce up the second capital of the State.
 
Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has already taken review of arrangements to be made by civic body and removal of encroachments, removing illegal hoardings, banner, action against those who deface public properties. The said banner hailing Mayor's appointment was tied to two electric poles and was promptly pulled down using an excavator by the civic officials. Mayor on learning about the development complimented the civic officials for acting without any fear or favour. He again reiterated directions to officials that illegal hoardings and banners should be removed promptly. No one should be cowed down by any pressure as illegal is illegal.
 
The city is dotted with banners, hoardings and posters put by individuals, organisations at traffic signals, electric DP boxes, electric poles, near schools and colleges, public places, and they all should be removed promptly, the Mayor has told the civic officials. The action on part of NMC of not showing leniency on hoarding haling Mayor could ensure that during winter session the city would not see every major road dotted with party flags, illegal banners and hoardings.
