Sports course will be made compulsory
Proposal being made for 5 per cent reservation to sportspersons in Government jobs
Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Jitu Patwari said that State Government is soon going to bring sports policy. Every endeavour is being taken to turn Madhya Pradesh into sports hub of country. From next session, selection of players and trainers will be done through online. Addressing a press conference at Barkatullah University, Jitu Patwari told that to promote sports in State, sports course will be made compulsory. He further said that a world-class sports university will be established in Bhopal soon so that the players can get full-fledged sports facilities.
Also, an international cricket stadium in Bhopal is also on the cards. Besides, various other academies including swimming academy at Indore, football academy at Chhindwara, rock climbing wall construction at TT Nagar Stadium and Barkatullah University will be established soon. He said that sports infrastructure will be constructed by PPP mode. A proposal is being prepared for sports project complex in Indore and Jabalpur under pilot project. Apart from this, sports infrastructure will be established at Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ujjain. Indoor hall will be built in 11 districts in the state while a three-storey multipurpose indoor hall will be constructed at TT Nagar Stadium. Sports academies’ players including 250 girls and 200 boys will be provided with new hostels.
Balaghat and Indore will also be given international level hockey turf facilities. He informed about the increment in cash award of the talented players and said that coach development program has also been started for the coaches and trainers. Also, insurance scheme has been started for the players. An endeavour is also being made to start career development centre for the players. To promote players and giving more opportunities to the players, Regional Olympics has been started in the whole State. He said that efforts are being made to provide five percent reservation to sports persons in Government jobs.
