State Govt removes CSPTCL MD, CSPGCL MD with immediate affect

Ashok Kumar is new Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company while Rajesh Verma is new Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company

In a sudden and unexpected move, the Energy Department of Chhattisgarh Government removed Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company (CSPTCL) Managing Director Tripti Sinha and Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company (CSPGCL) Managing Director K R C Murthy with immediate affect. The State Government also issued new posting orders for new Managing Directors for both the companies. Accordingly, the Government appointed Ashok Kumar as thenew Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company while Rajesh Verma as the new Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company.

It is worth mentioning here that Ashok Kumar is presently posted as Executive Director, Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd in Durg area while Rajesh Verma had retired from the post of Chief Engineer posted at Korba (West) Thermal Power Station. Both the senior engineers have over three decades of experience while working in power related jobs. As per the departmental order, the tenure of Tripti Sinha, Director and MD, CSPTCL, was upto May 31, 2020. But the State Government while using the powers vested under Clause 77(iv) of CSPTCL Article of Association, issued order of her removal from the post of Director and Managing Director from the date of order issued and using the power vested under Clause 77 and Clause 78 of CSPTCL Article of Association, it appointed Ashok Kumar, ED, CSPDCL Durg as the new Director and MD CSPTCL. Similarly, K R C Murthy who was posted as Regional Executive Director (South), NTPC Ltd was appointed as the Director and Managing Director of CSPGCL on April 10, 2018. However, the state government while exercising the power vested under Clause 77(iv) of CSPGCL Article of Association, ordered his removal from the post of Director and Managing Director from the date of order issued and using the power vested under Clause 77 and Clause 78 of CSPGCL Article of Association, appointed Rajesh Verma, Retired Chief Engineer, CSPGCL as the Director and MD of CSPGCL.
