‘The Golden 4.5 hours’, ‘Timely Imaging and interventions can reverse stroke’ say experts. Neurological weakness can be reversed in patients with Acute Ischaemic Neurological Stroke if they reach the hospital and receive treatment with four and half hours.

Association of Physicians of India, Vidarbha Chapter, organized a Continuing Medical Education programme (CME) on investigations, imaging and interventions in an Update on Medicine.

 

Dr Prafulla Kadu, President, API, made welcome speech. He underlined the importance of investigations aided by imaging and interventions that can define better outcome of medical practice, hence this CME.

An interesting case on - ‘Pulmonary Intervention’

 

was presented by Dr Sameer Arbat- Dr P K Deshpande, Dr Kadamkar, Dr Prafulla Kadu chaired the session. Another interesting case on ‘Coronary Intervention’ was presented by Dr Sandeep Chourasia and chaired by Dr Mukund Deshpande and Dr Vinod Khandait. Dr Bhawan Paunipagar gave an insight to ‘ICU Radiology Pearls’. Dr Suhas Kanfade and Dr Arti Anand chaired the session.

 

Dr Rajesh Mundhada, Interventional Radiologist discussed about ‘Case Based Peripheral Interventions’ Dr Jawahar Rathod, Dr Shrikant Kothekar - chaired the session.

 

Lecture on Neuro Radiology was given by Dr Bhavan Paunipagar and chaired by Dr Amit Disawal, Dr Parimal Fuke.

Dr Dinesh Kabra, Consulting Neurologist at Dr G M Taori CIIMS Hospital highlighted ‘Spectrum of Neuro-Interventions in Stroke’. The session was chaired by Dr Sanjay Ramteke.

 

The message delivered was that patients with Acute Ischaemic Neurological Stroke need urgent Imaging and Intervention with Injections or Thrombus Retrieval (a catheter based technique) in a given time frame to protect and reverse the brain damage. This would go a long way in decreasing the burden of Neurologically disability of the society.
