‘Swarashree’ pays grand musical gratitude to Lata Mangeshkar at Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav

Lata Mangeshkar, a legendary singer of Indian cinema known as ‘soul of Indian film music’ and ‘ageless nightingale’ by her fans. As a part of Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav, on Sunday, held at the premises of Ishwar Deshmuh College of Physical Education, ‘Swarashree’ from Pune had presented a beautiful programme ‘Mein Lata’ to pay gratitude to this ‘wonder of voice’, one and only Lata. The singers, Mahalakshmi Iyer, Suvarna Mategaonkar, Sharayu Date, Parag Mategaonkar and Prashant Naseri through the 25 most popular songs of Lata Mangeshkar had offered their respect to Lata Mangeshkar. The mercury is going down and the Orange City is in complete grip of biting chill.

The tunes of ‘Thandi hawayen, lehra ke aaye...’ made the shivering crowd of music lovers to tap their feet to the evergreen melodies. Many, spontaneously gave chorus, ‘Wah wah kya baat hai. ...rut hai jawaan, unko yahaan, kaise bulaaye.’ Lata Mangeshkar, known for her style of singing in Komal Gandhar once had said, “As a singer, you have to bring the soul to the song.”
The singers presented her songs left no stone unturned to match the melody. The musical journey continued with famous age old melodies like ‘Aayega aayega aayega, Aayega aane waala, aayega aayega aayega;’ ‘Hawa mein udta jaye, mora laal dupatta malmal ka, mora laal dupatta malmal ka ho ji, ho ji’; ‘O sajana barkha bahar aayi, Ras ki puhaar layi, ankhiyon mein pyar layi’; ‘Hothhon men aisi baat main daba ke chali ai, Khul jaae wohi baat to duhaai hai duhaai’; ‘Jo vaada kiya woh nibhaana padega Roke jamaana chaahe roke khudaayee, tumako aana padega’; ‘Inhee logo ne, inhee logo ne, Inhee logo ne le lina dupatta meraa’; ‘Wo chaand khila wo taare hase, ye raat ajab matwari hai, samajhne wale samajh gaye hai, na samjhe na samjhe wo anari hai’ and so on. Lata Mangeshkar once had stated, “I believe in one power, and that is the hand of God. I respect all religions.”
The singers presented songs of Lata Mangeshkar in the programme ‘Mein Lata’ made audience to experience the power of God that is music. Producer, Parag Mategaonkar; violinist Jitu Thakur; music composer, Chirag Panchal; noted singer Mahalakshmi Iyer; Swarada Gokhale; Soor Nava Dhya Nava feme Sharayu Date and Prashant Naseri were felicitated.
