Dacoity bid at petrol pump foiled, 5 armed men held

“NISHATPURA police foiled a dacoity bid at a petrol pump and arrested five armed miscreants from near a marriage garden while planning a robbery on intervening night of Saturday and Sunday,” informed ASP Zone-4 Dinesh Kaushal while speaking to the media-persons on Sunday.

ASP Kaushal said that three police teams swung into action after receiving information of armed miscreants planning a dacoity behind Avantika marriage garden at a petrol pump at Truba College Road and nabbed five miscreants around 2 am.

Five accused have been identified as Abdul Ajeez alias Azzu (23), Mohammad Ali (31), Salman alias Kala (29), Sehtaz (32), Arman Khan (27) and Mohammad Sajid (27). All the miscreants are residents of Nishatpura and Teelajamalpura respectively.

After preliminary investigations, police have registered a case under Sections 399 and 402 of the IPC and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. A country made pistol, live cartridges, one sword, a knife, iron rod, chili powder and wire cutter and plier were recovered from them.

In initial investigation, when dacoits were questioned they confirmed that they were planning a dacoity at Agrawal petrol pump late in the night but were nabbed, while they were hatching a conspiracy.  During investigation, police found that the accused were involved in similar incidents in the past in different parts of the State capital.
