IN AN unprecedented recovery of Naxal materials post a fierce encounter, huge quantity of Naxal materials was recovered from a forested patch of Bakoda.
The fierce skirmish between the security forces and ultras took place at Bakoda under Bhoramdeo sanctuary on Thursday. Deputy Inspector General of Police Ratan Lal Dangi accompanied by a team of police officials visited the spot and witnessed the recovered Naxal materials.
While briefing the media on Friday, the DIG stated that after the exchange of fire between police and Naxals, huge Naxal materials including banners, posters and daily- use materials were recovered from the spot.
The DIG said that police had got a tip-off that many ultras had camped somewhere in forested patches of Bakoda, Durduri and Bhanwartok under Bhoramdeo police station limits. Based on information, police personnel, in different teams, led by DSP (Naxal) and DSP (operations) were sent towards forest areas for search operations. Near Bakoda forest, security personnel came under heavy firing of Naxals. Police personnel took their positions and retaliated, forcing Naxals to escape deep inside forest areas.
After the guns fell silent, the entire area was searched during which banners and posters besides Naxal materials were recovered from spot. Blood stains were also found, indicating the injuries to Naxals. The DIG said that platoon numbers 2 and 3 was active in that area and anti-Naxal campaign was continuously being launched in forest areas of district. Case has been registered against the members of banned outfit present in Bhoramdeo.
Durg Range Inspector General of Police Himanshu Gupta and DIG Rajnandgaon/Kabirdham have applauded police personnel for success. This is claimed to be biggest recovery so far. “Bakoda Maoist encounter is one of the biggest this year, which has shocked and ashamed the leftwing insurgents,” said an elated Kawardha SP Dr Lal Umed Singh.
