JABALPUR Parliamentary Constituency-13 emerged a major challenge before the Congress to win castle of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lok Sabha election-2019. BJP candidate Rakesh Singh has registered three consecutive victories by a huge margin of votes in three previous elections in the constituency. Congress fielded new candidates in the three elections but always faced defeat. Apparently, there is a direct fight between BJP and Congress as no other political party or candidate has left an influence in previous three elections in Jabalpur Parliamentary Constituency.
In Lok Sabha election-2014, total 10,02,210 voters exercised their voting rights (58.55 per cent) against total number of 17,11,621 voters in the constituency. Total 16 nominations were filed, only nomination was rejected and total 15 candidates contested elections.
BJP candidate Rakesh Singh (5,64,609 votes) registered a landslide victory against his closest opponent Congress’ Vivek Krishna Tankha (3,55,970 votes) by a record margin of 2,08,639 votes. Security deposits of rest 13 candidates were forfeited. Bahujan Samaj Party’s Aftab Alam (16,008 votes), Aam Aadmi Party’s Captain Hanfee, Veer Chakra (15,977 votes), Indian Union Muslim League’s Mohammed Adil (9,053 votes), Independent candidate Virendra Kumar Sharma (7,164 votes), Independent, Vinay Kumar Jain (6,400 votes), Ambedkarite Party of India’s Manak Lal Gontiya (4,261 votes), Independent, Naveen Jain (2,990 votes), Independent, Vikrant (2,797 votes), Gondvana Gantantra Party’s Lal Dash (2,234 votes), Independent Dr Dhai Akshar, Rakesh Sonkar (2,007 votes), Bharatiya Shakti Chetna Party’s Digvijay Singh, Senior Journalist (1,852 votes), Independent, Malkhan Patel (1,562 votes) and Bahujan Mukti Party’s Pravin Gajbhiye (1,412 votes).
In Lok Sabha election-2009, total 6,33,493 voters (43.70 percent) exercised their right to vote against total number of 14,49,787 registered voters. Total 18 nominations were filed, five were rejected and two were withdrawn and 11 candidates contested elections.
BJP’s Rakesh Singh (3,43,922 votes) registered victory against his closest opponent Congress candidate Advocate Rameshwar Neekhra (2,37,919 votes) by a lead of 1,06,003 votes. Security deposits of rest 9 candidates were forfeited including Bahujan Samaj Party’s Aziz Qureshi (21,080 votes), Independent, Sunil Patel (7,247 votes), Republican Party of India (A)’s Meerchand Patel Kachhavaha (4,009 votes), Gondwana Mukti Sena’s Hari Singh Maravi (3,943 votes), Independent, Dr Mukesh Mehrotra (3,921 votes), Gondvana Gantantra Party’s Ravi Mahobia Kundam (3,506 votes), Independent, Rakesdh Sonkar (3,169 votes), Samajwadi Party’s Ashok Kumar Sharma (2,948 votes) and Lok Jan Shakti Party’s Rajkumari Singh (1,829 votes).
In Lok Sabha election-2004, total number of 5,71395 votes (42.49 per cent) were cast against total number of 13,47,379 voters. A total number of 16 nominations were filed, two were rejected and 14 candidates contested elections. BJP’s Rakesh Singh (3,11,646 votes) defeated Congress’
Vishwanath Dubey (2,12,115 votes) by a difference of 99,531 votes. Security deposits of rest 12 candidates were forfeited including Bahujan Samaj Party’s Braj Kishore Kewat (16,946 votes), Independent Swami Suresh Verma (6,857 votes), Samajwadi Party’s Rajesh Dixit (5,528 votes), Independent, Sahil Bharti (4,595 votes), Gondwana Gantantra Party’s Sunil Shukla (3,683 votes), Independent, Bhai Rakesh (2,858 votes), Independent, Riyaz Khan (2,718 votes), Independent, Advocate Prem Prakash Ahmedkar (1,324 votes), Independent, Gurucharan Singh Bedi (1,073 votes), Independent, Praveen (864 votes), SVSP’s Suraj Prasad Mishr (640 votes) and Independent, Arvind Mahobiya (548 votes).
