Alert cops nab accused in few hours of theft in Durg; seize Rs 3 lakh

It took the cops just a few hours to crack a house burglary case in Durg. The cops arrested the accused with the stolen items worth Rs 3.66 lakh. On discovering about the theft, the victim house owner immediately alerted the police and the team nabbed the accused roaming in the new bus stand at Durg. The accused, who has past records of various crimes including thefts has been identified as Azhar alias Ajju, a resident of Durg. Sources informed that at around 3 am on Friday, Apapura resident Gannu Lal Sonkar (69 years) discovered that the door of his house was open while the belongings in both the rooms were scattered.
 
He immediately alerted the police, which swung into action and conducted inspection in exit points of the city. During inspection, Ajju, after spotting the cops tried to hid himself and on suspicion, the police detained him from the bus stand. On being interrogated strictly, he admitted committing the theft in house of Gannu Lal Sonkar. The stolen valuables including 70 grams gold, 300 gram silver ornaments, two mobile phones worth Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 86,000 cash were also recovered from his possession. With the quick response of the police, the accused was arrested within hours. Sources informed that the accused Azhar, who was previously arrested on charges of theft, was released from the jail around three months ago.
