VFJ to diversify operations, make guns for armed forces

“Rendering its best services for national security by providing defence vehicles to the Indian Army, Vehicle Factory Jabalpur is going to start diversified projects of producing guns for the armed forces. VFJ has already started production of Dhanush – 155 gun parts and will soon start production of Sarang Gun system. 155 mm Sarang Gun is the modified version of outdated 130 mm Russian gun,” informed Govind Mohan, General Manager of Vehicle Factory Jabalpur, while addressing a press conference on Sunday. GM, Govind Mohan informed that, VFJ will produce 150 Sarang Gun system in technical collaboration with Gun Carriage Factory (GCF). VFJ has accelerated the production of Modified Mine Protected Vehicles and started preparations for producing Light Field Guns. He informed that, the factory has obtained order for modification of around 80,000 outdated 7.6 SLR guns for drill practice purpose.
 
He added that, VFJ would celebrate 218th Ordnance Factory Day in traditional manner, on March 18. The celebration would start with a grand religious procession ‘Prabhat Pheri’ to be taken out from VFJ gate number 1, from 6 am onwards. Senior General Manager will flag off a grand defence vehicles’ rally at Vehicle Factory gate number 6 at 9.30 am.
 
The rally comprising different defence vehicles manufactured in VFJ would pass through main streets of the city, including Stallion Mark-4, BS-3, LPTA-715, Mine Protected Vehicle (MPV), BCP LPTA, LPTA-715 Bullet Proof, Kitchen Container and Water Bowser 5 KL etc. The vehicle rally will pass through main streets of the city, including Satpula, Kanchghar, Ghamapur, High Court Square, Clock Tower, Malviya Chowk, JMC Square, Shastri Bridge, Gorakhpur, Sadar, Civil Line, GCF Estate and Ranjhi. The main programme of Ordnance Factory Day would be organised at R&D hall from 3 pm onwards. The programme would start with hoisting of Ordnance Factory flag at the hands of Senior General Manager. Along with oath-taking ceremony, officers and employees would be awarded with service excellence awards. In evening session of the day, a photo exhibition would be organised at Sector-II community hall. In last phase of the programme, ‘Akhil Bhartiya Kavi Sammelan’ would be organised at Sector-II community hall.
