Breaking the castle of Congress leader Kamal Nath in Chhindwara Parliamentary Constituency No-16 remains an uphill task for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kamal Nath’s victorious run since nine consecutive elections itself proves his strength in the constituency. Lok Sabha Election - 2019 may change the political scenario in Chhindwara Parliamentary Constituency as Congress will have to field its new candidate and the same will be an opportunity for BJP to open its account in Chhindwara. No other party or candidate could influence the traditional vote bank of Congress and BJP in the history of Lok Sabha elections in Chhindwara.
 
In the Lok Sabha Election – 2014, total 10,81,999 (79 percent) residents exercised their voting rights against total number of 14,02,038 registered voters. Total 17 nominations were filed, four were withdrawn and 13 candidates contested election. Senior Congress leader and sitting MP, Kamal Nath (5,59,755 votes) registered victory against BJP candidate, Choudhary Chandrabhan Kuber Singh (4,43,218 votes) by the lead of 1,16,537 votes. Besides this, Gondwana Gantantra Party’s Pardeshi Hartapshah Tirgam (25,628 votes), Independent, Sitaram Sareyam (12,762 votes), Bahujan Samaj Party’s Nitinkumar Sahu (12,241 votes), Independent, Dhaniram Yaduvanshi (6,601 votes), Aam Aadmi Party’s Mahesh Madhavlal Dubey (5,696 votes), Independent candidates, Dwarka Prasad Pahade (3,450 votes), Jalasram Nagwanshi (3,117 votes), Ambedkarite Party of India’s Ramesh Patil (2,872 votes), Bahujan Mukti Party’s Arvind Dongre (2,484 votes), Independent, Kripa Shankar Yadav (2,140 votes) and Samajwadi Party’s Subhash Shukla (2,035 votes). In the Lok Sabha Election – 2009, total 8,29,294 (71.89 percent) votes were cast out of total 11,53,612 voters.
 
Record numbers of 35 nominations were filed, four were rejected, three withdrawn and 28 candidates contested election. Congress’ Kamal Nath (4,09,736 votes) defeated BJP’s Marot Rao Khavase (2,88,516 votes) by the difference of 1,21,220 votes. Independents, Manmohan Shah Batti (27,414 votes), Tulsiram Suryawanshi (21,211 votes), Bahujan Samaj Party’s Rao Saheb Sinde (9,880 votes), Independent candidates, Jagdish Bais (8,845 votes), Duaram Uikey (8,383 votes), Subhash Shukla (8,361 votes), Abdul Samad Khan (6,273 votes), Kamalnath Mayawadi-Parasia (4,436 votes), Ajad Chandrashekhar Pandole (4,253 votes), Dhanpal Bhalavi (3,921 votes), Sukman Invati (3,116 votes), Gondwana Gantantra Party’s Satapsha Uikey (3,082 votes), Independent, Shoaib Khan (2,777 votes), Ganaram Uikey (2,705 votes), Pravind Naureti (1,967 votes), Asharam Deharia (1,910 votes), R K Markam (1,634 votes), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s Jogi Lal Irpachi (1,509 votes), Independent, Amritlal Pathak Raghuvar (1,460 votes), Gondwana Mukti Sena’s Pardeshi Hartapshah Tirkam (1,378 votes), Republican Party of India (A)’s Ramkishan Pal (1,326 votes), Independent, Nkhilesh Dhurvey (1,243 votes), Dhanraj Jamatkar (1,184 votes), Pitram Uikey (995 votes), Naresh Kumar Yuvnati (905 votes) and Rashtriya Krantikari Samajwadi Party’s Balveer Singh Yadav (874 votes). In the Lok Sabha Election – 2004, total 7,54,822 votes (65.92 percent) were cast against registered 11,45,107 voters. Total 31 nominations were filed, one was rejected, three were withdrawn and 27 candidates contested election. Congress’s Kamal Nath (3,07,819 votes) registered victory against BJP’s Prahlad Singh Patel (2,43,642 votes) by the margin of 63,708 votes. Besides this, Gondwana Gantantra Party’s Man Mohan Shah Batti (85,117 votes), Independent candidates, Dhanraj (23,403 votes), Sunil Yuvnati (9,234 votes), Naresh Ivnati (8,812 votes), Sachin Sadshiv (8,268 votes), Bahujan Samaj Party’s Dalchand Pal (7,098 votes), Independent, Dinesh Sahu (7,087 votes), Samajwadi Party’s Jaydeep alias Deepa Yadav (6,422 votes), Independents, Dwarka Prasad Pahade (5,498 votes), Dilip Ramrao Thakre (5,263 votes), SVSP’s Amrat Lal Raghuwar (5,163 votes), Independents, Jagadesh Kaoyalare (3,974 votes), Mukesh Wadiwa (3,177 votes), Goru Prasad Dhurve (2,864 votes), Gangaram (2,376 votes), RPI (A)’s Laxmi Wasnik (2,352 votes), Independent candidates, Laxmipraasad Nanskar (2,253 votes), Shaligram Sidham (2,232 votes), Biresh Marascola (1,600 votes), Krishna Kanoje (1,557 votes), Bharat Lal Deharia (1,552 votes), Aadil Khan (1,498 votes), Ram Kumar Pandram (1,483 votes), Ramkishan Pal (1,487 votes) and Rajendra Zhod (1,335 votes). Holi Special trains between Hj-Rewa reach Rewa next day at 9.35 am. Similarly, Train number-02186-Rewa-Habibganj Special will depart from Rewa at 10.25 am and via Satna, Maihar, Katni, Katni Murwada, Damoh, Sagar, Bina, Ganj Basoda, Vidisha and Bhopal will arrive at Habibganj Railway Station at 20.25 hours. The 20 coaches train comprises eight 3rd AC coaches, eight sleeper coaches, two general coaches and 2 SLR coaches.
