Raman Patel elected as new President of MPHC Bar Assn

Raman Patel has become the new President of Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association (MPHCBA). He won the election by defeating his nearest rival Advocate Sanjay Verma by 181 votes. Patel got total 528 votes. Counting of votes cast for the remaining posts including Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Library Secretary and Executive Committee members would be done on Tuesday. As many as 48 candidates were in the fray for various posts of MP High Court Bar Association. Voting for the posts, including President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, etc. was held from 10.30 am till late in the evening, on Monday. Total 1,585 advocates exercised their franchise to elect the new office-bearers of the Bar. A number of polling centres were set up at High Court Bar premises. After voting, counting process started and continued till late in the night.
 
Chief Returning Officer, Avdesh Tiwari, Assistant Election Officer, Ashok Tiwari, Rajesh Singh Chouhan, Anita Kaithwas and Shashank Shukla conducted the election proceedings. As per the information, as many as 7 candidates tried fate for the post of President of the Bar Association, while 9 candidates fought for the post of Vice President, 4 candidates for Secretary, 3 for Assistant Secretary, 3 for Treasurer, 5 for Library Secretary and 17 candidates tried luck for Executive Committee member. Chief Returning Officer, Avdesh Tiwari informed that, out of total 2,280 voters, as many as 1,585 voters exercised their franchise. Of the total votes, 528 votes were cast in favour of Advocate Raman Patel, while Sanjay Verma got 347 votes, Udyan Tiwari got 214 votes, Umakant Sharma got 196 votes, D K Jain got 100 votes, Pranay Gupta got 52 votes and Mahesh Pandey received 25 votes. Raman Patel won the election. After declaration of results, hundreds of supports of Patel gathered at HC Bar premises and celebrated Patel’s victory. They offered garland and put tilak on the forehead of new President.
