Newborn kidnapped from Elgin Hospital

An unidentified woman took away newly born child from maternity ward of Rani Durgawati Elgin Hospital under the jurisdiction of Civil Line police station, on Tuesday. SHO of Civil Line police, Praveen Dhurve informed that, receiving the information of stealing of new born baby from Rani Durgawati Elgin Hospital, a police team reached the spot and started investigation into the case. A woman named Sulochana Deharia (32), resident of Tanki Mohalla, Nai Basti, Katiya Ghat in Gaur informed that, on March 19, she along with Parvati Choudhary reached Elgin Hospital for her delivery in an ambulance. She gave birth to a boy at around 11:30 am.
 
 
Thereafter, her husband Radheshyam went home for some work and she along with Parvati was at Ward No-2. Soon after, she was shifted from Ward No-2 to Ward No-1. At around 2:15 pm a woman wearing yellow and green saree arrived and started talking with her and started playing with her newborn baby. Sulochana objected her for playing with her child when she informed that she is known to her husband and went away towards entrance of the ward. Meanwhile, Parvati went for taking tea and she sustained uneasiness and she started walking in the ward. She reached near her bed and witnessed that her son was missing from the bed and the unidentified woman was also seen in the ward.
 
She ran outside the hospital and witnessed the woman who was running away carrying her son wrapped with a green colour shawl in her hands towards Collectorate. She shouted for help when some onlookers tried to chase the woman but failed in finding the unidentified woman and her son. Acting on the complaint, Civil Line police have registered a case under Section 363 of the IPC while further investigations are underway to find the newborn child and identification of suspicious woman.
