Lucky escape as Ranthambore Express coach catches fire

A fire was reported on the Ranthambore Express 12465 travelling from Indore to Jodhpur on Friday morning. The incident triggered panic among passengers and they started jumping off the train. However no casualty has been reported with the incident.

Staff deployed in the train controlled the fire with available resources. The train took halt for about 40 minutes in forest area of Rohalkhud. According to reports, the train departed Nagda station at 09:25 hours on Friday for Jodhpur. After running eight kilometers from Nagda station, smoke was seen billowing out of AC coach very close to Rohalkhud station. Passengers aboard in the train got scared of the smoke and started jumping off the train after pulling the chain.

Talking about the incident, Railway authorities said that it was a small incident that happened after axel of D-3 coach heated up. Staff deployed in the train immediately took initiative and vacated the coach to avoid any casualty. All the passengers and luggage were safe. The train departed for the next destination at 10:45 hours.

“Axel of the coach was heated up which caused the fire. There is no casualty reported and engineering team was called to check the maintenance of train at next railway station,” said IA Siddique, Railway Communiqué.
