Five from C’garh named in BJP’s first list for LS polls

After burning midnight oil for three days and churning through the lists of probable candidates, Bharatiya Janata Party issued its first list of 184 candidates including five candidates from Chhattisgarh, for the Lok Sabha Elections – 2019. In the first list of 184 candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party names of candidates from five Lok Sabha constituencies from Chhattisgarh has also been included. Accordingly, the BJP has fielded Renuka Singh from Surguja (ST), Gomtee Sai from Raigarh (ST), Guharam Ajgalley from Janjgir-Champa (SC), Baiduram Kashyap from Bastar (ST) and Mohan Mandavi from Kanker (ST) Lok Sabha constituencies. Election in Bastar Lok Sabha will be held in first phase, election in Kanker will be held in second phase while elections in Raigarh, Surguja and Janjgir-Champa will be held in the third phase. The communique signed by Jagat Prakash Nadda, Secretary, BJP Central Election Committee, stated that the BJP Central Election Committee chaired by BJP National President Amit Shah, met on March 16, 19 and 20, 2019 and the names of 184 candidates including five candidates from Chhattisgarh were finalised for the Lok Sabha Elections – 2019.
 
The meeting of Central Election Committee was also attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj apart from all other members of Central Election Committee. From Chhattisgarh, State President Vikram Usendi, BJP National Vice President Dr Raman Singh, BJP National Joint General Secretary (Organisation) Saudan Singh, BJP National General Secretary Saroj Pandey, BJP State In charge Dr Anil Jain, BJP National ST Cell President Ramvichar Netam, former State President Dharamlal Kaushik, BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) Pawan Sai attended the Central Election Committee meeting as an invitee. Renuka Singh has been made candidate from Surguja (ST) Lok Sabha constituency.
 
Coming from Gond Tribe, Renuka Singh has education till Higher Secondary.A resident of Ramanujnagar in Surajpur district under Surguja Lok Sabha, she was first elected as Member of Ramanujnagar Janpad Panchayat from 2000-03. She was also appointed Member Social Welfare Board (2001-2003). She was later elected as Legislator from Premnagar Assembly segment in 2003 and was made Minister of State (Independent Charge) Women, Child Welfare and Social Welfare Department. She was Vice Chairman of Surguja and North Area Tribal Development Authority from 2005-08 and from 2008-13. She was again elected as Legislator from Premnagar in 2008. Mohan Mandavi has been made candidate from Kanker Lok Sabha constituency. Mandavi also coming from Gond Tribe, is a post graduate in History. An exponent of folk art he is a committed swayamsewak of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh. Mandavi had joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2013 after resigning from government job and his family has been working for the party since the days of Jana Sangha. Bastar District President Baiduram Kashyap has been fielded from Bastar Lok Sabha constituency. Baiduram Kashyap had been elected to Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly twice from Keshlur and Chitrakot Assembly segments respectively.
 
He had been member of Bastar Jila Panchayat as well. Gomtee Sai has been fielded from Raigarh Lok Sabha constituency. She had been active in the area as an active member of the party. To start with she had been elected as President of BJP Farsabahar Mandal in the district and was also a Janpad Panchayat Member. Later she was elected to the post of Member Jashpur Jila Panchayat. Presently she is the elected President of Jashpur Jila Panchayat. BJP has fielded Guharam Ajgalley from Janjgir-Champa (SC) Lok Sabha constituency. A former MP from Sarangarh Lok Sabha constituency in undivided Madhya Pradesh, Guharam Ajgalley is an agriculturist by profession and has considerable clout among farmers in the area. He is a BA, LL B from Raigarh, and had been active in the party organisation since a long time. Presently he is Member of State Working Committee.
