All PRSU-affiliated colleges to have help desk

To ensure cent percent success of online admission for the academic year 2019-20, all the colleges affiliated to Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU), Raipur, will have help desks. PRSU Registrar Dr Girish Kant Pandey told ‘The Hitavada’ this newspaper, on Wednesday, that every college will have a helpdesk to provide technical support to students coming to the colleges for admissions in for the upcoming academic session.
The staff of the colleges will manage help desks in their respective colleges. This will prevent the students from committing error during the online admission process, said Dr Pandey. He added students will get a period of 2 to 3 months after the date of admission to rectify the mistakes done during online admission. It will also save time and money of the students who used to visit the choice centres and private computer centres for filling up online forms. PRSU had introduced the online system of admission two years back, but it had to resort to the offline method of admission due to lack of adequate technical support to students.
PRSU had started a help desk in the university itself but it did not yield desired results. The advantage of the online admission is that the students will be provided with enrollment numbers which will be like a one-time password for lifetime. A student can see his/her academic details online by using the enrollment number while an employer can also use this number to examine the academic record of its employee, said Dr Pandey. Similarly, enrollment number will also be helpful in passport making and preparing other documents. The system will minimise human error and reduce the use of manpower too, said Dr Pandey. A meeting of the principals of all the colleges was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Professor K L Verma who directed them to start the help desk once examinations are over. Around 130 colleges are affiliated to PRSU.
