97 villages in Raipur selected for construction of new Gouthans

Veterinary department in association with District Gram Panchayat is going to develop 97 Gouthans in villages for better care of cattle in Raipur district. As per information received from official sources, 97 villages in Raipur district have been selected for the construction of new Gouthans. The project will be carried out by the help of Gram Panchayat and District Panchayat. District Panchayat Department will work as nodal agency for the project.
 
As per schedule Gouthans will be developed in six acres and three acres of land. 300 cattle will be accommodated in 3 acres of land and 600 cattle in 6 acres of land. Half of the land will be covered with shed. Equal amount of acres of land will be used for cultivation purpose as green fodder land. Crops will be grown on the land for feeding the cattle.
 
Tanks will be developed for making Vermicompost and organic fertilisers. Cattle Protection Trench (CPT) will be developed, bore well will be installed. One Cowherd will be appointed to take care of 100 cattle. Health check-up of cattle will be performed by the veterinary department staff. Artificial Insemination, Castration, Vaccination and other important health care facility will be carried out on the spot. Sources informed that at present ten new Gouthans are developed and will be inaugurated soon. These Gouthans are in Abhanpur block, Navagaon, Thanod, Arang block- Baihar, Benidih, Dharsiwa block,-Tarra, Pathri, Mothandi, Tilda block-Kohka, Maath and Dudheni. Gram Gouthan Samiti has been formed and well to do families of village are the members of the samiti. They will look after the proper maintenance and care. Cattle will be brought to the Gouthan at 7 am and by 6 pm they will be released.
