Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public rally in Wardha on Monday morning to kick-start the party’s campaign for first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra. He is also scheduled to address a rally later this week in Gondia. The Wardha rally will be held at Swavalambi ground, where a huge stage has been erected. The advanced teams of Special Protection Group (SPG) have already reached the venue and fine-tuned the security arrangements at rally venue. Modi will arrive in Nagpur and will reach Wardha by a special helicopter. He will be welcomed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. BJP State Unit President Raosaheb Danve and Union Minister and RPI leader Ramdas Athawale also will share the dais. Prime Minister is also expected to visit ‘Bapu Kuti’ and pay obeisance to father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Prominent BJP leaders including Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar have already reached Wardha. He took stock of the preparations for Modi’s first mega rally in Vidarbha. BJP candidate from Wardha Ramdas Tadas, Union Minister of State for Home and Chandrapur MP Hansraj Ahir, Gadchiroli-Chimur MP Ashok Nete, Yavatmal-Washim MP Bhawna Gawali, will be present in the rally. The rally is slated to begin at 11 am and a large turnout is expected. Last time, Modi had addressed rally in Wardha, interacted with farmers in Dabhadi over chai pe charcha, in Akola as Prime Ministerial candidate of the BJP-led NDA and had attracted massive crowd amidst scorching heat. Not surprisingly, the Vidarbha region then considered as the Congress citadel crumbled and emerged as the stronghold of the BJP. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP-Shiv Sena combine had swept Vidarbha by winning all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in the region. The BJP won six seats, while Sena emerged victorious in four constituencies with huge victory margins.
