Four arrested for assaulting contractor

FOUR persons of Nagpur, Maharashtra were arrested on charges of attempt to murder in connection with brutally assaulting a contractor from Nehru Nagar, Bhilai in the road rage incident. On information, Supela police team swung into action and rounded up the accused who were remanded to jail from the court following their arrest. However, the victim contractor was immediately hospitalised but his condition was stated to be critical. Police sources informed that at about 10:30 pm on Tuesday, Ganendra Singh, a resident of Nehru Nagar, Bhilai, the victim contractor was on way home in his BMW car (CG04/LN/0003) from a nearby mall when the accused Sanjeev Gupta, a resident of Hingana Road, Nagpur, Maharashtra along with three others indulged in heated arguments with the victim and assaulted him with a heavy stone while causing him serious head injuries at Gurudwara Road in Nehru Nagar, Bhilai after intercepting his car. During interrogation in police custody, the accused confessed their involvement in the criminal act and disclosed all details before the police.
 
The police said that while agitated over rash driving the accused intercepted victim’s car and assaulted him with a heavy stone, causing the victim grievous injuries following heated exchanges. In a fit of anger accused also damaged victim’s car considerably. After reaching spot immediately, police rushed the victim to Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Hospital, Bhilai from where he was referred to Ramkrishna Care Hospital, Raipur.
 
 
The accused were on way to Nagpur after attending a marriage ceremony in Bhilai when they assaulted the victim following minor dispute. Acting in the matter, police have registered the offence against the accused under sections 341, 307, 427 and 34 of Indian Penal Code committing the offence of accosting the victim, causing injuries amounting to attempt to murder, ransacking the car and common intention of crime. While confirming details, Bhavesh Sao, Station House Officer, Supela Police Station informed that in the investigation so far the incident appeared to be of road rage and while under influence of liquor accused assaulted the victim with a heavy stone, causing him serious head injuries which amounted to attempt to murder. In this connection, police have already registered offence and arrested the accused. The police are further investigating the matter to ascertain criminal charges.
