The Western Coalfields Limited’s (WCL) Wani area was adjudged safest area while Majri area won second place in the category for the year 2018. This was announced at the concluding function of the Annual Mine Safety Week held at Ballarpur. The event was organised under the joint aegis of Directorate General of Mine Safety (Western Region) and Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). The prize distribution function was also held on the occasion. R Subramanian, Deputy Director General Mines Safety, was the chief guest while WCL Chairman-cum Managing Director Rajiv Ranjan Mishra presided over the function.
The programme was attended, among others, by WCL Director (Finance) S M Chaudhary; Director (Technical) Manoj Kumar; representatives of trade unions; members of Tripartite Safety Committee; and others. Other areas of the public sector company were also given awards under various categories. Apart form this, L Sethi, Over Man in Chhatarpur mine no. 1 under Pathakhera Area; S V Ramteke, Senior Manager and others were also awarded. All the areas under the company showcased safety measures being implemented in their respective mines. A procession was also held wherein large number of employees and officers took part. The event also witnessed various cultural events. Expressing his views, Rajiv Ranjan Mishra said that safety of all the employees and officers working in the mines is at the top priority of the company. He said that coal production cannot be carried out igoring the safety parameter.
