Ordinance for Maratha quota: NVCC demands justice for all

Media reports suggest that the Government of Maharashtra is exploring the option for promulgating an Ordinance to implement Maratha reservation in Post Graduate Medical course from academic year 2019-20.
Hon’ble Bombay High Court and Supreme Court of India, earlier this month after considering the merits of the case before them had ruled that the 16 percent reservation shall not be applicable for this year’s admission in Post Graduate course of medical stream.
 
 
Hemant Gandhi, President of Nag Vidharbha Chamber of Commerce has appealed to Government of Maharashtra to ensure that no sect of the society is put to disadvantage, in Governments endeavor to introduce Maratha Reservation in Post Graduate medical course.
 
It is true that India is a welfare State and all Governments are required to direct all their polices for welfare of people but while doing so the Government is duty bound to safeguard the interest of all citizens of the State, he added.
Sanjay K Agrawal, Secretary of the Chamber said that chamber is not against reservation to needy and eligible faction of society but the law making body (Government) should respect the decisions of Constitutional Courts and should desist from overruling their judgments for political millage.
