TWO office establishments of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) in LIA, Chhaoni, Bhilai have been relocated in the office building of the State power company in Bhilai-3 and Baikunthdham as these office buildings would be razed down for setting up of 132/33 KV power substation in the area. With approval of proposal and earmarking of land for the proposed 132/33 KV power substation in LIA, Chhaoni, Bhilai; Chhattisgarh State Transmission Company Limited (CSPTCL) is fast initiating measures for construction of the power substation.

The sources said that the two office buildings that included Substation and Transformer Maintenance (STM) and High Tension (HT) Maintenance would be demolished for facilitating the construction of the proposed power substation in the location. However, in this connection CSPDCL’s Control Room for its 33/11 KV power substation would be spared for obvious.

The STM office, in the four 1 BHK residential quarters while HT Maintenance office in the two-room building were being functioning for over four decades but they would now be temporarily shifted to Bhilai-3 and Baikunthdham, Bhilai offices of the State power company respectively. If sources are to be believed the building for these offices could be reconstructed after commissioning of 132/33 KV Substation on the condition of availability of the required land. When contacted, Ashok Kumar, Executive Director, Durg Region, CSPDCL informed that the offices were shifted for facilitating construction of 132/33 KV power substation in the area.

It may be recalled that CSPTCL was allocated the fund of Rs 20 crore for setting up the 132/33 KV power substation which would be located by the 33/11 KV substation in LIA, Chhaoni, Bhilai. As part of setting up the power substation, the couple of transformers of 2X40 MVA would be installed along with installation of six feeders of 33 KV with provisions of line in and line out. With linking 132 KV double circuit lines of 220 KV power-substation of Bhilai-3, the power substation would be commissioned and it would be linked with all 33/11 KV power-substations around Chhaoni area, thereby enhancing the capacity to sustain the increasing power supply load. The power substation was necessitated in the area for meeting ever increasing power supply load in the fast developing area and for ensuring undisrupted power supply to industrial establishments in its peripheral locations. The power substation would also benefit the residents and industries coming up in the areas, including Chhaoni, Hathkhoj Industrial Area, Jamul, Mother Teresa Nagar etc.
