Four of a family, two drivers killed in Bolero-truck collision

IN a tragic road mishap, six people including four of a family died and 10 others sustained critical injuries after the Bolero they were travelling collided head-on with a truck at Ghat Pendari on Ambikapur- Banaras Road on intervening night of Sunday and Monday. As per information, the spot of the mishap falls under jurisdiction of Chandora police station, some 50-kilometers away from Surajpur district headquarters. Fifteen persons were travelling in the Bolero at the time of mishap and most of them belonged to one family from village Bhala under Vijay Nagar police station limits.
 
As per information, members Bhuiya family who are residents of village Bhala had started off in a Bolero (CG 11 BB 9922) to Kudargarh dham for worship. They set off from the village at around 11 PM and had plans to reach Kudargarh in wee-hours so that they could return after offering prayers and descend the mount even before weather gets hot. But as soon as their vehicle reached the Pendari ghat in the Ambikapur-Banaras main route tragedy struck them as the Bolero collided with a truck loaded with bars and going to Banaras from Raipur. It was reported that the truck driver lost control on the slope, leading the vehicle to collide with Bolero. The impact of collision was so severe that four passengers including the driver died on the spot while 10 sustained injuries.
 
One more passenger died later in hospital. The truck driver breathed his last on Monday morning. Learning the incident, local police reached the spot and rushed the injured to hospital while the bodies of the deceased were taken for post-mortem after preparing the inquest. According to police sources, the deceased have been identified as Dhyanchand Bhuiya, Andulna, Raturam, Reshmi, Bolero driver Pannalal Kushwaha and truck driver Shahshah Ahmad (32).
 
While Raturam, Dhyanchand, Andulna and Bolero driver Pannalal Kushwaha succumbed to injuries on the spot Reshmi breathed her last during treatment. Truck driver Shahanshah who was stuck in truck’s cabin died on Monday morning. His body was taken out by cutting the cabin.
 
Those who sustained injuries in the accident are Sushila, Binu, Pardeep, Rinku, Aditya, Urmila, Shivam, Naresh, Kalavati and Nandu (25). The condition of Kalavati admitted in Ambikapur Medical College was reported serious. Five injured were given primary treatment in a local hospital and later referred to Ambikapur district hospital. Other five injured were under-treatment at Partapur Community Health Centre and their condition was reported to be stable. ASI R D Singh posted in Chandora police station said that a case had been registered under sections 279, 337, 338 and 304 A of Indian Penal Code and further investigation was on.
