The ESOI informed that the temporary shelter made by inhabitants cannot be termed safe. Mainly because of the fact that for the tent like structure, administration has supplied plastic sheets instead of tarpaulin that could sustain wear and tear arising out of change of climate
A massive demonstration was staged by Engineering Student Organisation of India(ESOI) at Tilhari, the venue allotted by administration and JMC to some 1200 families ousted from hilly region of Garha area. Incomplete rehabilitation of families from Garha region has forced them live hellish life with no basic facilities to families ejected by virtue of demolition carried out following orders from MP High Court. Inhabitants compelled to live in Tilhari area are denied of basic infrastructure like potable water, shelter above the head to protect against scorching climate and the like essentials. According to information, a massive protest against administration with an aim to draw attention on the desolate condition of around 1,200 families rehabilitated from hilly region at Tilhari is being staged by ESOI.
The agitation staged has yielded in positive as the municipal corporation on being apprised about the ground reality at Tilhari has started water supply for ill-fated inhabitants at Tilhari. Now water is being supplied through JMC water tankers. About the suffering of families living at Tilhari it is informed that under the demolition move at Madanmahal hilly region following court directives to free hilly region from all sorts of encroachments. A team of district administration and municipal corporation started with demolition of large number of homes illegally constructed in the hilly region. After the demolition the administration and JMC assured that all families rehabilitated would be given lease of land at Tilhari.
Out of 1200 families affected by demolition only 200 families have been given lease documents in four month duration time. Also that to construct home financial assistance of rs 2 lakh would be given to families affected by demolition. The ESOI informed that the temporary shelter made by inhabitants cannot be termed safe. Mainly because of the fact that for the tent like structure, administration has supplied plastic made sheets instead of Tarpaulin that could sustain wear tear arising out of change of climate. The plastic made cover sheets have turned tattered as the inhabitants are forced to live under open sky. With no separate kitchen for families, making of meals is being done inside the plastic cover sheets has made the temporary homes highly vulnerable for fire incidents as the plastic sheet cover in case of fire would engulf all people residing at Tilhari. Shockingly no health dispensary has been made operational at Tilhari for the benefit of large number of families living there under rehabilitation mode.
Praveen Singh national president of ESOI in course of demonstration staged issued ultimatum of 72 hours take heed of the insurmountable problems faced by people living in hell like situation. Compensation amount along with lease of land and other basis facilities must be provided or else the organisation would be forced to intensify agitation looking to inhumane conditions of families living at Tilhari. A PIL would be filed with Court seeking justice for people. Among present were Deepak Nahar national vice president ESOI, Satish Kori, Rajkumar Chakrawarti, Vipin Datta, Ajay Chakrawarti, Prahalad Kori and others.
