UNSEEDED Ridheema Sarpate stunned third seed Siya Kongre to move into the prequarter-finals of the ongoing Baidyanath Nagpur District Badminton Championship at Subhedar Hall on Friday. Ridheema created the major upset of the day defeating her rival 15-11, 6-15, 15-12 in the Under-13 girls singles category.
Grishma Kshirsagar from girls singles U-17, Devesh Rana from boys singles U-15, Krisha Soni from girls U-13, Aditya Gadge from boys U-13 and Sairaj Nayse from boys U-10 age categories also moved up on the second day of the meet.
While Grishma got walkover, top seed Krisha Soni beat Mugdha Sawarkarbt 15-4, 15-4. Similarly, Jena, seeded top, got the better of Parth Kathanebt 15-6, 15-3 while Nayse beat Vedant Wankhede 15-1, 15-5. In Under-13 boys group, top seed Aaditya Gadge defeated Krishna Singh 15-7, 15-7 to move up in the competition.
