A special court here on Tuesday sent the accused of abducting, raping and killing a girl to judicial custody for a day. The Kamla Nagar police would file chargesheet (challan) in the court of Special Judge Kumudni Patel on Wednesday. He was taken to court premises in a tight security as some social organisations had planned to beat him black and blue.

However, no such incident occurred. Vishnu Bamora (35) was produced before Special Judge Suresh Singh by Kamla Nagar police, said Sudha Vijay Singh Bhadoriya, Special Public Prosecutor for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Bamora was arrested from Mortakka village near Omkareshwar town in Khandwa on Monday morning for raping and smothering the girl in Mandwa slum opposite Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Kamla Nagar area, here on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

The girl went missing after she came out of her house on Saturday evening to make a purchase, and her body was found dumped near a drain in the area by her father on Sunday morning but till then the accused Vishnu Bamora has escaped from the Bhopal. The SPP on Monday told that the court was informed that the police was ready to file a charge sheet in the case by Wednesday.

The accused has been booked under sections 363, 366, 376, 377, 364, 302 and 201 of the IPC and section ¾ of POCSO Act. Bhadoriya said that Bhopal District Bar Association’s Vice-President Reena Verma, who was also present in the court when accused was brought here by police amid tight security arrangement, told her that lawyers have decided not to appear for the accused. There are around 8,000 advocates practising in city but no one would take Vishnu’s case.
