THE competitive pressures on the manufacturing industry, in terms of productivity, quality, delivery and safety call for a strategic and holistic approach that the industry needs to adopt to make their operations world-class. This could be achieved through proven quality practices. Given this background, CII will be organising the ‘Sharing of best practices and strategies’ learning session and plant visit to witness the actual implementation for better understanding at JSW Steel Plant, Kalmeshwar on June 22 at 9.30 am. There is a constant effort to achieve zero defect and zero waste and zero rejections through initiatives such as smart design and by applying various TPM and TQM techniques. To achieve these goals there needs to be a constant effort in creating processes that react rapidly to unanticipated problems both internal and external. With effect of which manufacturing today focuses on mass customisation and adaptability by applying innovative methods and constantly taking an effort to reduce cost of production to be globally competitive.
 
The learning session will cover various topics related with strategies, methods, best practices, tools and technologies adopted and implemented by JSW plant on manufacturing excellence, operational efficiency, maintenance, environment, health and safety, energy efficiency, loss elimination/reduction, 5S, Kaizen, supply chain management, automation etc. Nominations should reach before June 19.
