Anirban Dasgupta assumes charge as CEO of BSP

Anirban Dasgupta has taken charge as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) on Saturday. Prior to assuming his current assignment, Dasgupta was CEO, IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) with additional charge of Chief Executive Officer of Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) and Alloy Steel Plant (ASP). Under the leadership of Dasgupta, ISP progressed towards achieving rated capacities and the plant’s performance witnessed turnaround.
 
For the first time after modernisation, ISP posted profits in Quarter-4 of the financial year 17-18 and Quarter-1 of financial year 18-19. Prior to his current responsibilities, Dasgupta worked in Chairman’s Secretariat, SAIL from 2010 to 2017 where he was instrumental in various assignments. A distinguished alumnus of IIT, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Metallurgy, Dasgupta started his career in Centre for Engineering & Technology (CET) of SAIL in 1986 and took his initial training in Bhilai Steel Plant.
 
During his career in CET, Shri Dasgupta worked in several important areas, which included preparation of feasibility reports and tender specifications of various projects in SAIL, collaborating with Mckinsey & Company for restructuring of SAIL, formulation of SAIL’s Corporate Plan 2005 and 2012, working as a key member of many corporate initiatives including preparation of blueprint for the revival of ISP before its amalgamation into SAIL among others. Dasgupta has undergone specialised training programmes in India and abroad and won several awards and recognitions for exemplary performance.
