in the past general insurance pensioner’s faced many difficulties in getting pension settlement and payment of regular pension. Also, payment of hospitalisation expenses without cashless facility under group mediclaim policy was troublesome. “Now lot of improvements have taken place due to the efforts of the General Insurance Pensioner’s Association. Now, we are getting last option of pension for PF optee’s. After 17 years of struggle pensioners see ray of hope,” said A M Kulkarni, Secretary of General Insurance Pensioner’s Association. He was speaking at the 10th annual general body meeting of the Association held recently at Saraswat Mandal Hall.
In the first session, a convention was held, which was inaugurated by S K Mehra, CEO of Health Insurance TPA, New Delhi. Present were Arun Jaiswar, Chief Regional Manager of Oriental General Insurance and A S Dahate, Regional Manager of National Insurance as chief guest. K K Joshi, Life Time President of the Association was also present as guest of honour. Mehra informed that HITPA will be opening its office in city shortly. Jaiswar and Dahate in their address assured all support and co-operation to pensioners in solving their problems.
The convention was addressed by U Banerjee, General Secretary (Mumbai) and Shyam Mathur, Deputy General Secretary, of General Insurance Pensioner All India Federation. They addressed the house on various important issues of pensioners including charter of demands, basic pension updation, 30 per cent uniform slab for family pensioners etc.
Both expressed their views about planned struggle of ‘Pensioners Dharn’a and other programmes to be carried out in future to achieve all legitimate demands. During second session, the Secretary’s report and statement of account for the year April 2018 to March 2019 were placed before the house and adopted unanimously. Rahul Vayurwagh representative from HITPA attended the meeting and interacted with pensioners on mediclain problems faced by them. G T Hemarajani, President and A P Pultamkar, Working President conducted the proceedings, while Vijay Padole, proposed the formal vote of thanks.
