A delegation of Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DICCI) recently met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari here in the city . The delegation, under the leadership of DICCI West India President Nishchay Shelke, congratulated Gadkari on his appointment as new Union MSME Minister. Besides the MSME Ministry, Gadkari has also retained charge of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Recently while interacting with media persons here, Gadkari had said that MSMEs are the backbone of the Indian economy and account for more than 45 percent of the total manufacturing output of the country. DICCI Vidarbha President Gopal Wasnik, Maharashtra Ladies Wing Mentor Winnie Meshram; Vidarbha Ladies Wing President Kranti Gedam; Vidarbha Vice President Rupraj Gauri; and Atul Bhange briefed the minister about DICCI activities and also gave various suggestions with regard to 5 per cent procurement policy and SME development, SC/ST hub and CLCCS among other issues.
The Minister took note of the suggestion given by the DICCI and assured to take steps. Gadkari also asked the delegation to prepare a detail note about MSME development.
