With the arrested of a fraudster, Raipur police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of tricksters indulged in cheating people on the lure of helping them to get their insurance money. Recently, the gang has duped retired project manager of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) of over Rs 2.42 lakh on the pretext of help him to get his insurance money. Amanaka police arrested a fraudster identified as Sanjay Singh Gangwar (34), a native of Uttar Pradesh, in connection with forgery of around Rs 2.42 lakh recently took place with retired project manager of NMDC Toman Lal Dewangan (74), a resident of Tatibandh under Amanaka police station, said Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Prafull Kumar Thakur.
 
The ASP City further informed that from the possession of accused, who was arrested from Ghaziabad, eight mobile handsets, computer CPU, Rs 20,000 cash and others were seized. Police investigators have launched a search for two others indentified as Pankaj Giri and Raghvendra, who are still at large. Shedding details about the modus-operandi of forgery, ASP Thakur informed that in August 2018, the gang members called Dewangan and introduced self as executive of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA).
 
During telephonic conversation, the fraudsters managed with win Dewangan’s confidence with their communication skill and assured of helping him to get his insurance amount back. On the pretext of processing charge, the accused has duped the victim of Rs 2.42 lakh. An offence in this connection was registered with Amanaka police station under relevant Sections 420 and 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), which amounting to cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property and acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention, added police sources.
