Nod to give land to JSR Dynamics in MIHAN SEZ for Defence Hub

The Board of Directors of Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), in its meeting held in Mumbai on Wednesday, approved a proposal for allotment of land to city-based startup JSR Dynamics in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Multimodal International Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) for setting up a Defence Hub. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, chaired the meeting of the MADC Board of Directors. JSR Dynamics had sought land in MIHAN-SEZ. Accordingly, the proposal was put up for consideration before MADC Board. After discussion, the Chief Minister gave nod to allotment of 27 acres of land to the said firm. He told officials that some more companies had expressed keen interest in starting their units in MIHAN. In the meeting, progress of development of airports at Chandrapur, Amravati, Solapur, Purandar etc also was reviewed.
 
Also, the Chief Minister took stock of implementation of regional connectivity scheme. He asked the officials concerned to expedite the works of airports that were under development. Rajiv Jalota, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Department; Satish Gavai, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries); Dr Nitin Kareer, Principal Secretary (Urban Development); Valsa Nair Singh, Principal Secretary (General Administration); Lokesh Chandra, Managing Director of CIDCO; Suresh Kakani, Vice-President and Managing Director of MADC, attended the meeting prominently. JSR Dynamics Pvt Ltd is a Nagpur-based start-up company floated by Air Marshal (retd) S B Deo, former Vice-Chief of Air Staff.
 
Last month, it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Economic Explosives Ltd, a subsidiary of Nagpur-based Solar Group, for warheads and allied proceses for glide weapons and lightweight cruise missile. Earlier, in February, JSR Dynamics had signed a MoU with Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL). The MoU aimed at ‘leveraging the individual design and manufacturing capabilities’ of BEL and JSR Dynamics Pvt Ltd. Air Marshal S B Deo, a Nagpurian, had showcased four missiles of different types at Aero India show held in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, in February.
 
The missiles he designed and developed include ‘Vel’, a 297-km strike range cruise missile; and ‘Khagantak’, a stand-off missile. His initiative had two glide bombs of different calibre and a lightweight cruise missile carrying a small warhead. JSR Dynamics Pvt Ltd designs and manufactures ground-based and air-based weapons. Its products include glide weapons, lightweight cruise missiles, and allied sub-assemblies and components. JSR Dynamics getting land in MIHAN-SEZ is a major step towards transforming Nagpur into a Defence Hub in the long run. Already, Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited has started manufacturing facility in MIHAN. In February this year, the first cockpit of Falcon-2000 produced by DRAL at MIHAN was handed over to Dassault Aviation, France. Further, teams of various other companies had visited MIHAN area to know the opportunities for investment particularly in Defence sector.
