DCP Poddar shifted out in major reshuffle
   Date :16-Jul-2019

Nilotpal will be the new DCP in city
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-V, Harsh Poddar, faced the music for alleged mismanagement during the counting of votes of Lok Sabha election at the Kalamna Market Yard. In the general transfer of officers of the rank of DCPs/ Additional Superintendent of Police, Poddar was shifted out of Nagpur Police Commissionerate. Poddar is posted to Beed District as Superintendent of Police in the list released on Monday. He is being replaced by Nilotpal, an officer of Indian Police Service (IPS). Nilotpal is currently serving as Additional Superintendent of Police, Nasik Rural.

Although Poddar's posting to Beed might look like a reward given the fact that it is an independent posting, sources said the transfer was effected after District Returning Officer Ashwin Mudgal had submitted a written complaint against DCP Poddar for inept handling of bandobast during the counting of votes. The report was submitted to Election Commission of India. Congress challenger Nana Patole had come to the counting venue and had an argument with Mudgal over process of counting of votes. A horde of Congress Party workers, too, had created a scene that irked the District Collector who expressed his unhappiness at handling of the security on part of the city police machinery. The written complaint of District Collector seems to weighed in transfer of DCP Poddar out of Nagpur Police Commisionerate.

Incident Zone V of Nagpur Police Commissionerate was formed just a year and half back after number of police stations increased. It comprises two police stations of Kamptee, Old and New, Kalamna, Panchpaoli, Koradi, Jaripatka and Yashodhara Nagar. All the police stations in Zone V are considered quite heavy from point of view of policing. These two orders are part of 37 IPS officers whose transfer orders were issued by the Maharashtra Government on Monday.

Similarly, Ranjan Sharma, Superintendent of Police (SP), CID, Nagpur, too, has been shifted to Mumbai Commissionerate. He will be replaced by Rajia Mhaisale alias Rajlaxmi Shivankar. She is currently posted as Additional SP (Hq), Satara. Another new officer to come in city would be Superintendent of Police, Government Railway Police (GRP). and Vishwa Pansare in place of Amogh Goakar who is entrusted the charge of Akola district. There is also going to be change at Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at Nagpur Division and new officer to take charge will be Rashmi Nandedkar who is serving at Bhandara as Additional SP.

In all, 37 officers of IPS cadre and 52 of State Police Service (SPS) figures in the general transfer list issued by the State. The order of SP, Amravati, Dilip Zalke, will be issued later.
