The dry spell in Vidarbha, especially Nagpur got over as the region recorded good rains on Friday evening. On Thursday also, districts including Nagpur, Nanded, Parbhani, Latur and Bramhapuri witnessed light rains. Bramhapuri recorded 54 mm rainfall on Thursday, while other places like Nagpur (3 mm), Wardha (5 mm), Nanded (6 mm), Parbhani (9 mm), Latur (11 mm) and Gondia (1 mm) also experienced some rains in last 24 hours.

Skymet Weather predicted that monsoon is likely to revive in next 24 hours in Nagpur and Vidarbha and the first spell of good rains was observed on Friday evening. In last 24 hours, Nagpur division recorded 8.83 mm rainfall in which Mauda experienced highest rains with 87.60 mm.
According to weather department, “These rains are a result of low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal. This system will further travel inland in the westerly direction, thus gradually increasing the rainfall activities over Vidarbha and Marathwada in next 24 hours.”
From Saturday, Vidarbha will start observing good amounts of Monsoon rain. In late June, Nagpur district recorded good monsoon for one week. Thereafter, temperature started increasing due to less rains and the dry spell lasted for more than 15 days.
Weather department is expecting that the upcoming spell of monsoon will remain till September and Vidarbha including Nagpur will get good rains this year. After light rain on Thursday, the relative humidity level was 89 per cent on Friday in Nagpur and the maximum temperature was 35.6 degree Celsius.
Chandrapur was hottest with 36.8 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature in Gondia was recorded 35.4 degree Celsius while it recorded 1.4 mm rainfall. Bramhapuri was also above 35 degree Celsius with 5.4 mm rainfall on Friday. Amravati recorded the lowest temperature with 29.6 degree Celsius. Wardha also recorded 4.8 mm rains in last 24 hours.
Yavatmal recorded 100 per cent relative humidity in last 24 hours while Gadchiroli was 98 per cent, Wardha 89 per cent, Bramhapuri 83 per cent, Gondia 78 per cent, Washim 77 per cent, Amravati and Buldhana 72 per cent and Akola 71 per cent humidity.
