MAFSU’s rank upgraded in ICAR Agricultural University ranking

Stands 4th among Veterinary Science universities in India 
 
In a good news for not only State but also Nagpur, the Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) has improved its ranking among all the Agricultural universities across the country. As per the list of ranking published by Agricultural Education Division of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, MAFSU stands 28th among 60 Agricultural universities in India. In the previous ranking, for the year 2017, MAFSU was placed at 31st and secured 6th position particularly among Veterinary Science universities in India.
 
Now, the varsity’s rank among such universities also has improved to 4th. In January 2018, Col Dr Prof Ashish M Paturkar became Vice-Chancellor of MAFSU. After assuming the charge, he initiated improvement in basic infrastructural facilities and other crucial areas of development on priority basis. Because of these efforts, ranking of MAFSU has improved significantly. Karnal-based National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) tops the list in Veterinary Science followed by Bareily-based Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) at the second spot.
 
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana stands 3rd and MAFSU, Nagpur at 4th place. MAFSU is the second best in India among state Veterinary universities. A panel was formed by MAFSU under the Chairmanship of Dr P T Jadhao, Dean, (Extension and Training); Dr J P Korde as Nodal Officer, Dr Landge, Dr Dhume, Dr Sonkusale as members and Dr Taksande as Secretary, who worked tirelessly to bring out the ranking report of the universities.
 
Vice-Chancellor Col Dr Ashish Paturkar has given credit of MAFSU’s success to Dr N N Zade, Director of Instructions and Dean; Dr A P Somkuwar, Director of Research; Dr V C Ingle, Dean, Lower Education; Chandrabhan Parate, Registrar; D B Raut, Comptroller; Dr S W Bonde, Controller of Examination; other officers of the university, Associate Deans of all the constituent colleges of Veterinary, Dairy Technology and Fishery faculty, all teaching and non-teaching staff and students of the varsity who proved trust shown by the V-C in them and overall improved status of teaching, research and extension.
