A day after Pachpaoli Police team led by Ashok Meshram, Senior Police Inspector, nabbed Naushad Khan Peer Mohd Khan, a notorious goon wanted in several cases, the City Police announced reward of Rs 75,000/- to the police team. Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay, Commissioner of Police, announced the reward to Meshram and his team. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Pachpaoli Police officials told mediapersons that Naushad Khan Peer Mohd Khan (28), a resident of Dobinagar, Mominpura, was involved in 11 cases registered in Tahsil, Jaripatka, Sadar, Shanti Nagar, and Pachpaoli police stations. These cases were registered against him in the years 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017. Naushad was active in the gang of his brother Ippa. Both were notorious and involved in cases of loot, hurt, arms etc.
According to sources, the gang was operating several big garages in Motibagh and Mominpura area where stolen vehicles used to be disposed of. Naushad was absconding since he was named in three cases under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA). In 2017, a team of Crime Branch led by Bhedorkar, Assistant Police Inspector, got a tip-off about his whereabouts. The team went to arrest him, but Naushad and his gang attacked the cops and fled the spot after damaging police vehicle. A case under Sections 143, 147, 148, 186, 336, 353, 427 of the IPC was registered against him at Pachpaoli Police Station. Since then, the cops were on the lookout for him.
Some time ago, a team had gone to Ajmer in Rajasthan, where he was hiding. However, he had escaped before the police team reached. Finally, on Friday night, Pachpaoli Police team led by Ashok Meshram, Senior Police Inspector, learned that Naushad had come to his newly constructed house near NOGA Factory in Nagpur. The team went to the spot and laid a trap and arrested the goon. The cops also seized three ‘desi katta’ and five live cartridges, a knife from his possession.
While the cops were frisking him, a woman Mumtazbi Khalil Khan (45), a resident of Dobinagar, tried to interrupt the police action. According to cops, women cops were called and she was detained. Later, they let her go home. Meshram told reporters that the cops were conducting further investigations to know the source of weapons he was carrying, where was he in the past two years, who had given him shelter, and whether he and his gang members were involved any other dangerous activities.
